Dylan McDonald knows what sounds good. Whether working on lyrics or overdubbing, the Avians’s frontman is deliberate and careful in the construction of his songs. It is for this reason that the group’s debut LP, Out From The Door, is my #1 album of 2013. The album is full of well-crafted, sonically rich rock music that channels the heyday of Pink Floyd and the Beatles. The group’s upcoming second album Fueled By Dreams Of The Future, promises to keep the band rolling on their well-layered track, while still experimenting with and further developing the Avians’s sound. I sat down with Dylan recently in order to discuss the group’s history, the new album, and his approach to songwriting.
